Characteristics of today’s luxury villas.
You already know that gHouse is one of the most recommended architecture studios in Mallorca and that we carry out turnkey projects in which we take care of everything: analysis, design and execution of new works, refurbishments or renovations of any complexity.
And precisely for this reason, we know first-hand what are the most common demands among people who are going to build or rehabilitate a large detached house. Do you know what every self-respecting luxury villa has? Today we take a look at some of the most representative elements of these homes that abound in the Balearic Islands.
What do luxury villas have?
1.- Presence of natural elements, especially stone, and sometimes backlit.
One of the aspects that luxury villas that we build or refurbish tend to have in common is the presence of natural materials that provide beauty and glamour. Marble, granite and natural stone in general are usually present in these homes.
The presence of natural stone is often accompanied by its backlighting and is used as cladding for furniture and surfaces. Bathtubs, countertops and bar counters are spaces where these backlit natural stones can be found. Their presence brings exclusivity, luxury and beauty, something that is always sought after in this type of property.
It is important to transmit that feeling of luxury through materials that are irreproducible and that provide elegance while connecting with nature. Undoubtedly, natural materials treated in an exclusive way is one of the hallmarks of luxury villas.
2.- Kunstwerke, um eine exklusive Dekoration zu erreichen.
Another distinguishing feature of luxury villas is the presence of perfectly selected works of art and, very importantly, strategically located inside the house. Therefore, when we carry out the project for such a villa, we always consider large spaces in which all types of works of art can be integrated, regardless of their style or size.
Undoubtedly, in these villas we are looking for a very specific atmosphere that transmits luxury and glamour and, in this sense, the pieces of art can give a lot of class and personality to the different rooms of the house.
3.- Bathrooms and kitchens: minimalist and designer.
While bedrooms and living rooms tend to be more excessive in terms of decoration, the bathrooms and kitchens of luxury villas opt for an exquisite but more minimalist aesthetic. They follow the “less is more rule” to create large, bright spaces, but with less ornamentation and more neutral tones.
Kitchens can have a vintage touch, although many villas opt for a more country style, typical of the island, always combined with design elements. They are usually very spacious kitchens that become the nerve centre of the house.
The bathrooms opt for designer bathroom fittings, with straight and elegant shapes. In them, a certain minimalism triumphs, which is broken up by the presence of plants, pictures or other large decorative elements.
4.- The swimming pool is a must.
And finally, there is no luxury villa without its corresponding swimming pool. Many even opt to include an indoor and an outdoor pool, so that they can be enjoyed at different times and for different purposes. Although we are surrounded by the sea, it is clear that the presence of a large swimming pool continues to be a symbol of distinction and that is why it is one of the elements that we are asked for in the integral projects that we develop at gHouse.
In addition, the swimming pool must be well integrated into the surroundings and serve to enhance the rest of the natural elements of the house such as gardens, plants, trees…
