What the perfect wardrobe looks like.

When designing and decorating a bedroom it is a priority to contemplate a space for storage. The presence of wardrobes, chests of drawers and bedside tables is a given in these rooms in order to store clothes and other belongings.

And today we would like to focus on the main wardrobe that every bedroom has. On the one hand, this piece has a practical aspect, as its mission is to store clothes and other textile accessories, thus helping to make the room more functional and tidy. But on the other hand, it also has a decorative aspect, as its role in the overall aesthetics of the room is important.

There are many options, first of all, depending on the space available, but in any case, today we would like to explain to you what the perfect wardrobe should look like. If you need our help to choose the one for your bedroom, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Basic parts of a wardrobe

Before Marie Kondo came into our lives, we were already aware of how important it is to have storage space in our homes.

In the case of the bedroom, where our clothes and personal accessories are usually kept, having a good wardrobe makes everyday life easier, makes wardrobe selection more comfortable and helps to keep everything tidier and more visible.

But what should the wardrobe look like so that everything is in perfect order and harmony?

It is important that it consists of three distinct parts. This is not a whim of ours, but is purely logical in terms of the storage order:

  • A part with a large vertical hanging space to hang all those longer garments, whether dresses or skirts, coats or trench coats.
  • Another part of the hanger with medium vertical space in which to hang shirts, jackets, jackets, jackets… and other garments that have a medium length and do not need so much vertical space.
  • A third part without a bar but with drawers in which to store smaller items and garments, such as underwear, socks and stockings, handkerchiefs…

In addition to these parts, both the upper and lower parts should be used to store other objects. For example, the upper part can be perfect for storing bags or hats, while the lower part is often used as a shoe rack for storing shoes.

In short, the wardrobe must be chosen strategically and planned taking into account the type of clothes you have and the length of the garments. That is why in many cases we recommend the creation of custom-made wardrobes that can be personalised according to the needs, heights, openings and desired distribution.

The importance of its aesthetic dimension

As we were saying, we cannot forget that the wardrobe is a large piece and, therefore, plays a big role in the decoration of the bedroom. In many cases, the wardrobe is usually part of a set in which this piece matches the bed and the bedside tables.

In other cases it may be a recessed opening where it is important to choose the right front and interior cladding to coordinate with the rest of the room’s décor.

The same applies if it is a freestanding piece. It will have to have a design line and an aesthetic that allows it to fit in with the overall decoration of the bedroom, helping to enhance it and make it more beautiful.

The material chosen, the handles, the presence of mirrors… are all aspects to be considered in order to achieve a wardrobe that is as practical as it is beautiful. At gHouse, as experts in decoration and interior design and architects in Mallorca, we can help you choose yours.
