Best trends in architecture for 2022

When this time comes, there are two options: to look back on the year that is now ending or to focus on the future and concentrate on what is yet to come.

And as these times have been somewhat uncertain, at gHouse we are clear that the best option is to look forward to all the good things that 2022 will bring us, which will be a lot judging by the trends in architecture that are already on the horizon. Do you want to know them? Well, we tell you about them in this post with which we bid farewell to the season.

What are the trends in architecture that await us?

If there is one thing that will characterise 2022, it will be to establish a more indivisible union than ever between architecture and decoration to create integrated environments.

The aim is to create spaces that are more comfortable, more spacious and more welcoming and it seems clear that the union of both disciplines is the best way to achieve this.

1.- The triumph of warm minimalism

What we have experienced in recent years has made us stronger but also more selective and more aware of what really matters. And this translates into the search for homes in which we want to be good with very little, hence the triumph of a minimalist style but with larger and more selective pieces that move away from the coldness with which this style has traditionally been associated.

It is about being good with little and that is why the architectural and decorative elements become more special, warm and cosy to make us feel at ease. Wooden pieces, exclusive furniture, natural fabrics, handmade accessories… A home where less is better.

2.- The moment of curves

Another of the trends in architecture that are going to impose themselves in 2022 are curved lines. As we said before, minimalism is sought but more in the essence than in the forms, hence the triumph of curved decorative designs, designs that embrace us and make us feel good.

Curved lines are being imposed both in architectural structures and in interior pieces such as sofas and tables. There is even talk of a boom in round indoor swimming pools as another example of how in 2022 we are looking to avoid right angles.

3.- A classic revival

All trends are cyclical. It doesn’t matter whether we are talking about fashion, architecture or decoration. And next year it seems that this look back that usually takes place from time to time will be directed towards Ancient Greece.

Olympus becomes a source of inspiration looking for that perfect mix between the simplicity of its lines and the majesty of its sizes. The presence of columns, statues, marble and natural stone will prevail in luxury homes to remind us of a time when everything seemed possible.

4.- Let there be light

Confinement has taken its toll on us and now we want to enjoy homes in which a feeling of open air, light and space prevails. That is why another trend in architecture for 2022 will be to create homes with large windows and glass.

And to achieve a greater sense of spaciousness and luminosity, warm colours from nature and a lighting system that contributes to gaining visual space and giving a special and sophisticated touch to the interiors will be in vogue.

And here ends this preview of the architectural and decorative trends that 2022 will bring us. From our architecture studio in Mallorca we would like to take this space to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a New Year full of good things.
