The importance of choosing the color range of your home

Advertising and marketing have always played with the power of color to influence the perception that consumers have of a product or service.

It is the so-called psychology of color, capable of awakening very different emotions and feelings not only in the world of commercial brands, but also in the world of interior design in Mallorca. Because the colors that predominate in each room of a home can make it more relaxing or more welcoming, but also make it appear larger, brighter or more elegant.

In this post we would like to tell you about the great importance of choosing the right color range to achieve the desired setting and aesthetics in your home.

What does the choice of interior colors depend on?

The colors that will prevail in your home cannot be based only on your personal tastes, since we are not facing one more decorative aspect. In fact, color is probably the element that has the greatest transformative capacity in interior design projects.

The colors should be chosen according to the architectural characteristics of the home, the distribution of the furniture and the overall decorative style. Only in this way can the most outstanding aspects of each corner of the house be enhanced.

For example, it is not advisable to choose a color for the walls of your living room if you do not first know where the windows will be located, the amount of natural light that will enter through them or where you will place the main pieces of furniture such as the sofa.

Think for a moment, can you imagine a house with a modern design and the presence of minimalist furniture with the same color range as a Provencal-inspired house with a more rustic style? Surely not. Because in the end the colors will determine how the house will finally be.

Do you know the 60/30/10 rule to choose the color range of your home?

One rule that never fails when it comes to choosing the color range for interiors is the 60/30/10 rule. When you think about the color of the paint on the walls, the color of the furniture and the color of the textiles … do it with this rule in mind.

It is about choosing three main colors that will predominate in a room, taking into account how it is distributed and the style you want to prevail in it. According to this rule, the main color will have a presence of 60% in the room and can be chosen for walls, floors, and part of textile accessories such as curtains; the secondary color will occupy 30% and may be the one that dominates in pieces of furniture such as sofas, armchairs, lamps, paintings … and the third color will only be present in 10% and is the accent that serves as a counterpoint. Try to make at least two of the three colors complementary.

This rule is very followed in interior design and decoration projects, especially when you want to get it right and achieve a simple, cozy but also powerful final style at the visual level, something that is achieved by combining well some decorative accessories such as paintings, rugs or curtains.
