Interior design projects: terraces that you will fall in love with at first sight
Anyone who has a house with a terrace has a treasure. If the terrace is also large or integrated into an area with a garden, the value of this treasure becomes obvious, especially if it was designed by interior design and architecture office in Mallorca like ours.
Today we would like to use this article to tell you how we create terraces that you will fall in love with at first sight. We’ll give you a few tips so that you can get more out of yours and show you one of our latest projects.
Terrazas – the queens of summer
Turning a terrace into an elegant, cozy and practical space is not as easy as it seems. Many elements intervene in these outdoor spaces, from the shape of the terrace to the decorative style of the house.
In order to correctly select and combine all these elements, it is best to put yourself in the hands of a professional interior design studio in Mallorca.
From our point of view, there are three essential aspects that can turn your terrace into a special oasis that will leave your guests speechless:
1.- Choosing the right furniture
Since it is common to use the terrace in moments of leisure, from sunbathing to dinner with family and friends, it is important to understand the terrace as a place of enjoyment and relaxation.
And for this you need very specific and strategically distributed furniture. Obviously it all depends on the size of your terrace, but if possible we recommend that you divide it into a relaxation area to enjoy activities such as reading, sunbathing, chatting … and dining.
Rely on furniture that is comfortable, warm, cozy and resistant, as it is directly exposed to the effects of the weather.
2.- Find the perfect lighting
The lighting of a terrace determines its atmosphere, especially on these summer nights. As experts in decoration and interior design in Mallorca, we recommend that you do not rely on individual lighting, but rather on the different areas into which your terrace is divided. We recommend that you use subtle and indirect light and, if possible, LED lighting.
Today the possibilities are endless and new, more sophisticated lighting solutions are emerging every day. Torches, lanterns, candlesticks, light bulbs … the question is to have lighting that provides light, but also atmosphere, and always adapt it to the activities you can do, be it a dinner or a chat with your friends .
3.- Embellish it with decorative elements
Your terrace should not be without decorative elements that add elegance and style and at the same time are practical and help you enjoy this space more. Cushions to match the furniture, parasols and awnings to protect against the sun or night, candles to add atmosphere … and plants if your terrace does not have a garden.
Here we recommend decorative elements in more neutral tones so that they fit better into the outdoor area. The plants will bring a lot of life to your patio and use certain materials such as wood that provide warmth.
And that’s exactly what we did in one of our latest interior design projects. As we show you in the photos, we decided on wood for the floor so that the terrace can be better integrated into your landscaped exterior.
